I’m Jo Robertson

Most days you can find me working out of my garden, on my beloved rose gold Mac book drinking tea. I believe most things can be solved by tea.

I’m mostly known for working at ghd as global head of education and people often refer to me as Yoda.

I love serving the world by motivating people to solve problems.

The things I’m most passionate about in life are my family, living a life that makes me happy and skiing.

I coach and develop hair professionals, I inspire salon owners to get back in charge of their businesses and design the brand they always wanted.

  • Are yearning for a job that you are so excited about you can’t sleep?

  • Are you struggling to get to grips with social media and attract the right type of client? Do you feel like you’re just talking to yourself?

  • Do you wish you could attract your dream client to your salon?

  • Do you desire to have business that allows you to live the lifestyle you want?

  • Are totally into hair but not into systems?

  • Do you want to grow your brand and shoot your own collection but just don’t know how

  • Can’t figure out how to actually make money rather than haemorrhage it?

  • Are looking for someone to be that second pair of eyes that can advise you on what to do next or even where to begin with your business?

If you answer yes to any of these I can help. I’m able to give you the tools to change your business to a brand and allow you to achieve your goals.

I started my journey as you may have done - as a Saturday girl. I stood behind the chair for 25 years before moving into education.

I love our industry, I love the community but most of all I love helping people. That moment when you can visibly see the change in someone, they stand taller, they have inspiration in their eyes. This is what makes me adore my job.

I have now moved out of a brand to really focus on helping salons and stylists achieve their goals.

I have owned my own salon and to honest it was the toughest years of my life

I have owned my own salon and to be honest it was the toughest years of my life, both financially and mentally. My husband used to dread Saturdays as I would come home in a bad mood because I was so drained from the week. I took on far too much and was drowning. I was obsessed with having a busy column, earning money, listening to the phone, making sure the bookings were ok, checking clients were happy, listening to the stylists conversations to make sure the clients were been recommended the right products. It was exhausting!

Sound familiar?

I did not have a clue what I was getting myself into or what I was doing, I made some enormous mistakes and one of those was not to get help or advice.

You need to become a brand

A brand will give you longevity, it will give you the systems and processes that will help you to grow your brand and give you the lifestyle you desire to travel to that amazing beach in the Maldives or to purchase the Channel handbag that you have lusted over for so long.

I knew there was a better way doing things as there are people out there making lots of money and living my dream lifestyle. This is when I started to take more interest in education and began my journey at ghd. It taught me how to live like a brand, I learnt about brand values starting from the processes up to creating the visuals.

I have discovered the new me, this is where I fit. I love inspiring and motivating people and find nothing better than to help people discover and achieve their goals.

I cannot wait to show you everything I’ve learnt so you can implement it in your salon and create your own dream lifestyle.

When I’m not busy working on you, you can catch me:

  • Cycling around Warwickshire (not that keen on hills)

  • With my husband and really tall son 6’5” (I grow giants) who is now 20! How did that happen!

  • I spend time raising money for women’s cancer charities, taking part in the annual Women V’s Cancer 100K through the night ride.

  • I love skiing, but love nothing more than beautiful scenery in the summer, I was lucky enough to visit South Africa and desperate to go back!

Whether you know it or not you have a dream. I followed my dream and could not be happier.
